Adventures Sailing Single handing

Single handing

Raced last night with only “Mr Bungee” to help drive the boat during sail changes. I figured the worst that might happen on a triangular course with a steady breeze is one spin set, one gybe.  Instead I had 5 sets, 5 takedowns and a gybe in heavy traffic with no way – an hour later I was still sweaty. The high point was doing great at the start – seen in the background in this shot of the launch of the local luxury hotel. That is me on the right.J22start

Post-race the wind was so nice I stayed out on the lake well after sunset. Then went to the hotel bar sponsoring the race to socialize, then scootered home. This morning I drove down to Renton and raced the T37 in a multi-race 4 hour regatta and finished a close 2nd.

I keep promising not to post about sailing but it has been such a great summer for it I can’t help myself.

Tomorrow is Sunday and I will have to work all day to make up for the last 4 days.
