The plan was to stay in Asia for a month (Jan 1- Feb 1) based in Taipei but with 2 or 3 side trips to other countries. On arrival in Taipei, the destinations and dates for those side trips were not decided.
There is no medicine for jetlag. I’ve tried many and the only techniques that work for me are:
– Power through the exhaustion: Recovering from jetlag is a little like ripping off a bandaid. It is going to hurt the same either way so I prefer to pile on the pain in the first 48 hours so I can enjoy my time in the new place.
– Sunshine: get outdoors and into natural light, preferably at the most difficult time of the transition.
There was no sunshine during my first stint in Taipei but I took a walk around my neighborhood the 1st day anyway.

Other than recovering from jetlag, the first few days I mostly worked. Very productive because of the change of surroundings and routine. Took a few more walks around Taipei to stay active and adjust.

My new favorite place to visit in Taipei is this place nearby that was a polluted service yard for trains and the HQ for the old corrupt state monopoly when I lived here. Kudos to Taiwan for making that transition. I know people who could spend all day here. Upcoming exhibit.
Taipei traffic still has lots of motors scooters but is much safer, efficient and less chaotic than before. Video
