I first moved to Taiwan in 1987. My company still has an office there and for the last few years I have been visiting in January before Chinese New Year to meet with my work colleagues there for the traditional company-sponsored meal 尾牙 sometimes simple, sometimes fancy.
My last trip to Taiwan was in January 2020. The gloom of living through the pandemic was sharpened because travel was not possible. As with many countries, Taiwan opened up on late 2022 so this trip is to return to that tradition again and show that COVID did not win.
