Last post for this trip.
My schedule is to leave Bologna Sunday and my flight is from Frankfurt Tuesday morning. As of Saturday afternoon, I was still checking the weather for the best place to have a layover night. My 1st choice was Innsbruck and although a storm was predicted for Sunday afternoon, Monday morning looked half-way decent for a hike in the Alps.
Spoiled myself to pay the extra $50- for 1st class on the train to Innsbruck (oh if I had only done the same for the train to Frankfurt the next day!).
Hotel across the street from train station and a Zoom call with family during the evening thunderstorm. In the morning I got up early to catch the 1st ride of the day to the crest of the Alps above Innsbruck, a bit nervous about being able to make it back down in time to checkout by noon and catch the train to Frankfurt.
It all worked out. It was one last highlight of the trip before the grinding standing room only 6-hour train ride to Frankfurt, a 90-second transfer in Munich and then the stress of arranging a COVID test at the Frankfurt airport that evening before the long flight home Tuesday morning. Innsbruck was one last highlight of a trip of highlights. Not much else to say, I’ll let the pics and vids speak for themselves.
A little extra time on my hands so I played with the camera
