Slog 26/2013

5pm: no wind and it is raining. Scootered down anyway to fulfill obligations. Motored out single-handed just after 6pm. Got a call from CP within minutes, picked him up and then we set a course off Evergeen on a dark gray drizzly evening. I have never experienced a dark gray drizzly evening in Seattle when it was hot – I was drenched in sweat – it was like SE Asia. TV weather guys say it was 17 years ago since it was like this. What a weird weather night.
KirklandOptisAnyway, 3 races. I drove the first and it was very fun and tight racing upwind. Won but had a wild wind shift within 5 boat lengths of the windward mark. Nearly the same in the next race with CP driving. Did foredeck shorthanded but the longer we went the worse I got on foredeck. Still competitive but lesson learned is clean up the lines every chance you get!
Pic is of Optis waiting for kids to continue learning after lunch at Marina Park (site of Coho launch)
