It was a warm night. Big community event at the park with live music and wine-tasting. NW wind at 10. Yet we only had 4 people make it. Me and DT on GJ for a short twice around race on the Kirkland Coast. Nice start meant we were able to hold off all the big fast boats that started 5 minutes later (except the 70 footer) and so we finished somewhere at the top (no official scoring this year). Low drama and not much learned, just a nice night on the lake doing something fun for no additional cost which made me feel privileged because so many expensive boats out on the lake tonight are only used 10 days a year and this is my 20th sailing post in 2013 – a total of 41 races so far smashing my previous record – it almost makes up for those many hours working on the boats in the off-season to make them faster.

Beautiful. So. What is the new format called? I like it!
Oh. And a 70′ boat!? Wow!
Thanks! The WP theme is LEAF.
A 70′ boat has a theoretical hull speed 76% faster than my boat (http://www.cncphotoalbum.com/technical/hullspeed/hullspeed.htm) which means that they should beat us by a lot just to tie us.
It also means that when we are going upwind and they are coming up behind us, it feels like a ferry is overtaking us. Their sail is a skyscraper compared to ours – we just look up – and hear the rushing water.
