Adventures Paddling Practicing for Saturday’s race

Practicing for Saturday’s race

Dropped J off at college today. While he was in his 1st class I went for a practice run on Saturday’s race course. Afterwards had cheeseburgers at a trad drive-in and then I helped him move into his dorm room.

Perfect weather.  I race FSK class. That is Fast Sea Kayak. I joke that the kayak is Fast but the kayaker is half-fast – gettit? 🙂

Anyway – according to the records, the last kayak race I competed in was 470 days ago. I will participate hard in this one. It is a popular race with over 100 boats and a great salmon BBQ afterwards. J said he would come for the finish and the food.

I recorded it with the VidCam but the darned thing fogged up badly after the first 30 minutes. Below is the lake (check out the terrain view) and a video.
UPDATE – I posted on YouTube at first but they have distorted my last 3 videos so I am giving up on them. Re-posted smaller at 1.5x speed on my server. Note the time it took to do a 270 in this boat.
