In NY again for business. It was a good day.
It is interesting how cities fade in and out of your life (I understand that this probably sounds pretentious but it is my life, I am not playing it up, just stating facts – you can check my passport stamps). There was a time when Manila and Bangkok were prominent. Then Amsterdam for a while. There was a London phase and of course years in Taipei, Hong Kong and Northfield (fun to put those in the same category). I used to come to NY a lot, then I stopped, last century. Now I am on my 4th visit in the last 6 months and I am learning more and more. It is so interesting to see what NY has chosen to change and what to preserve. I don’t agree with all the choices but it is informative to see the choices that a democracy makes (as opposed to Dongguan last month).
Anyway, instead of doing any standard tourist thing I went to find Manhattan Kayak Company and saw some J/24s sailing all out against the incoming tide and not moving. Oh yeah, my hotel is in Queens, thus the post subject.
