Hawai’i Day 8 – Oahu

Rented a car and drove around Oahu. Not many pictures. I drove past Kamanu Composites and spend some time on the beach watching the surfers at the Banzai Pipeline – impressive.

NE corner of Oahu next to Dillingham airfield. S, there must be some connection to Dillingham AK but I couldn’t find it.

  1. Dillingham, AK named after Senator (William) Paul Dillingham (1904); Dillingham airfield named after Captain Henry Gaylord Dillingham (who died in 1945)… It looks like they have a great grandfather (Vermont/Massachusetts area)- line of politicians. One appears to have gone to Hawaii to make money, and Dillingham airport was named after the prominent-businessman’s son, after he died in war effort.
