Aarrghh!

You know that it could happen. You are given fair warning….

but you don’t believe that it ever will.

Why didn’t that little piece of whatever hit the carbonfiber kayak hull instead? Would not even have left a mark!

  1. Awww darn!

Perhaps we can match your catastrophe with pictures we have of the evidence of carnage. You see, every single one of the screens on the main floor of the cabin has been shredded — some worse than others. There are blood drippings on the sills of 3 of the windows (2 of them do not have screens). And blood spatters on the porches and windows.

As best we can tell, some bird of prey had some prey on one of the porches (had to do a lot of cleaning). And was attacking him/herself in the windows’ reflections as well.

  2. Turns out that it was a crow. Well, probably two or more of them. We did get picture of them at the window, so we are pretty sure that it was crows. Which means we’ll wait a bit before we replace the screens. Perhaps we shall leave the something shiny as an offering.

  3. Ok, one more comment: Yes, some of the time it was a crow. However, based on having found yet another pellet on the porch we think that an owl might have been involved as well. (My guess is a Northern Sawhet, just because we saw one several times a couple of years ago.)
