Adventures Sailing Moonlight cancelled

Moonlight cancelled

The moonlight race was cancelled :(. A combo of

  • Low participation (for some reason everyone that owns a boat would prefer to be sailing in the San Juan Islands when it is windy and 80+ degrees – fools!)
  • Floating bridge rebuild – the first new pontoon was delivered. There is an amazing engineering process going on here (vid)

I forced my kids to make it up to me. They went sailing on the BlueCat in 15+. I made C drive for the 1st half-hour. Though queasy she got into it. After a tack on the Seattle side, Captain J took over and drove us to Waverly Beach as C and I dragged our toes in the water and discussed the future. The downwind leg on the shore saw a complete drop of wind. After commenting that this had happened to me many times before, a psych major on the boat asked if the definition of insane really was doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

It was Summerfest in our little town so the streets were blocked off, there were 3 bands playing and lots of food trucks to enjoy. We all ate too much and I got sunburned.  Another good day and I forgot that I missed a race in the moonlight and Persied meteor shower. 🙂
