Moya means a particular kind of breeze, it is a Swahili word I think. It is the name of the boat that I raced tonight. The boat was built in South Africa and shipped to New Orleans and sat on a trailer for months. We got it out just before Katrina. On-board tonight was a professional musician and composer who wrote a piece inspired by sailing on this boat called Moya. Since he has played Carnegie Hall and I am tone-deaf I defer to him on the inspiration and aesthetic, but he can’t drive straight and I could not start well so we lost 3 of 3 short races just off Carillon in very, very shifty and light WNW winds (big stationary front just to the SW)
