Summoned back to CA. Left the house early enough Monday morning to make a 9am meeting in the south bay. Eventually had breakfast/lunch at 4:30pm and could not seem to be productive that evening(?) It was a very worthwhile trip though.
No pics, only a couple of traveler stories:
- Tried to go without car again- it is irritating that California pretends to be so environmental but is so un-friendly to car-less people. Even the Bay. Course LA is impossible. I researched and tried to go without. Anyway, I ended up in taxis. $$$. The taxi from work to Oakland airport was a total beater from San Leandro, but when I went to pay he swiped my credit card though an attachment on his iPhone and I signed with my finger. When I took a taxi from the Seattle airport home it was a shiny high-efficiency Prius, but when I went to pay with my credit card he had to pull out his paper forms and physically swipe the card with carbon paper twice. The irony.
- For the second time in one month I have been on a plane that left the gate, went to the runway and then had to go back to the gate and made us sit onboard for over an hour (Mpls and Oak). This time it meant that I got caught in rush hour traffic on the way back and did not make the Wed races (5 boats for the 1st time!) – but it was all good because I was greeted with hugs by PV and had a nice evening with them, even watching J read Captain Underpants.
What a great way to end your day!!!
