Wednesday sailing 3 – (0)

Too much wind but we went out anyway to see if we could practice upwind work. We were hoping the wind would ease. Me and J on Moya and DT, Martha and PL on Gray Jay.  Instead the wind built with gusts over 30mph. We only put up the jib. Sailed for only about 90 minutes. But it was not raining and it was WARM – 65 degrees!  Summertime in Seattle!

My other goal was to try to take some video. I used my old FlipVideo and got some low-quality stuff. We all reviewed it and decided that video does not really capture the violence of sailing in strong winds because you have to steady yourself to stay on-board and hold the camera. To illustrate – at one point the bailing bucket in the cabin of the boat actually flew up through the narrow cabinway into the cockpit, defying gravity as implied in the video.
