Sailboat racing has started! The 1st race of the year coincided with the warmest day of the year. Our 1st day above 60 degrees in 2011 (though it was 36 this morning).
Sailboat racing can be very intense. There is a lot more going on than appears from a distance on the balcony as you drain your glass and watch the sunset. Not today. The blazing sun and hot weather was accompanied by no wind. The race was called after 3 hours. In the last 1h33m we managed to pass the entire fleet (2 other boats) and were in 1st place. In that last 1h33m, the distance traveled? 0.9 miles. In 2008 we did the whole 17.5 mile course in 2h45m.
There was a kayak race today but I chose sailing instead. Don’t regret it though. If I had remembered to take the light wind main we would have done even better.
So glad you could be out on the lake and watch the sunset! The whole image brings tranquility to mind. Hope you had a pleasant cuppasomething (figurative and/or literal) to celebrate when you were done.
