Friday Sailing (6)

Best Friday night of the year for racing. 90 degrees, sunny and windy. DT and I took GJ.
I mounted the camera on the other boat so I did not get any pictures of me – and since this site is all about me ! I am not posting any excerpts

Race Notes

The wind started out too strong for two but slowed as the night went on. We finished in the dark about 2 hours later. There has been no E wind out of Juanita this year. It has paid to go West. The wind has not been wrapping around Champagne Pt either so everyone keeps sailing towards the dead-zone under the bluff. Stay west!

The HL sail worked in the stronger wind but has poor shape in light wind. It was very sloppy the 2nd half of the race and we had little boat speed. Also, there were a lot of big windshifts near Hunts Pt – see Leg 3 below. I think it is best to go for power. East might have been better towards the end of the last leg.
