Adventures Paddling Kayak – Jones

Kayak – Jones

Last post about this overnight trip. I forgot that April this far north is not warm. Darn cold for tent camping last night- it was very hard to get up in the morning.

Wind on the nose at sunrise. That did not help our motivation to get in the boats and start paddling. We were a bunch of slow pokes taking down our tents and packing the kayaks.

No significant wildlife sightings. I heard deer, was followed by seals, saw sea lions. The major event was the raccoons. Once we got into our tents they attacked everything we had. I bought a bear canister in Feb with my REI dividend and stored my food in it. In the morning it was 100 feet from where I left it and it had coon bites all over it. The kayaks were covered in tracks and all the other camp equipment was rattled around until 1am. Too many coons and nothing to eat meant they had big snarling fights into the night. There may have been otter involved too. It was a very noisy Saturday night.

Here is another boring video of the paddle back. Warning, if you have the volume on, turn it down when you see the seaplane land and take off near me.
