Queens

Waiting for the ‘7’ inbound in Queens.

Finishing up a 3-day bizness trip to NY. Staying in Queens across from a huge cemetery. This is my 3rd time here in the last few months, after not visiting since 1999.

It is a totally different city than what I remember, what is portrayed in the movies and from my conceits growing up (all the nuts roll to the coasts). It is a livable place. Clean, safe. I continue to be extremely impressed by the advances made in big cities (well, Taipei and NY at least) in traffic, environment, policing, community-building. I remember driving past Cabrini Green once to see if I could hear gunshots and I did, in the afternoon. I can’t vouch for ChiTown now (they say it has changed a lot) but I can tell you that NY certainly has improved immensely.

Of course, it does not hurt if there is absolutely spectacular weather every time I visit. I have not seen a cloud yet. It did get down to 25 but it is in the 60’s today.

Here are some classic toowrist shots to prove that I was here.

Walked about 3 hours total today in Queens and Manhattan.
