The weather held through Sunday so I took the canoe up to Bothell. I had made a nice mount for the new camera the night before and it seemed perfect. On the paddle up river I startled a Great Blue Heron, but it was to his benefit because upon re-landing he caught a snake. It took him about 5 minutes to finish the job but he did it. About a 10 inch garden snake down the hatch. Urp! Wiggle wiggle. Talk about reflux!
There were quite a few people on the river practicing for the big race in 2 weeks, including a marathon C-2. Even though I was at the end of my workout, I couldn’t resist tracking them upriver even more. Ended up going about 8 miles altogether.
When I got back I found that I had the vidcam in picture mode the whole time. Instead of 2 hours of paddling video I got a color photo up my nose as I was turning it on. User error. Perfect weather, good adventure but no picture. Met some people training for marathons and others that had questions about the canoe.
