Falling in Minnesota

Weekend in MN to attend a funeral of a remarkable man. An uncle – an elf and an oak (Alf Eik, gettit? ha!).  Much of his life was informed as a teenager when he watched the Nazi’s disembark soldiers in Stavanger in April 1940 when Norway was invaded, subsequently being shelled by the Germans and then joining the resistance movement. An interesting moment this weekend was when a Parisian Jew came up to us after the funeral – he told us that his parents and some family perished in the concentration camps and he wanted to make sure that he continued to thank anyone related to someone who made a stand against the Nazis because so many were passive – so go out and be counted, whether it is the Arab Spring, Occupy or even a Town Hall meeting. Vote.

The pics are from a walk on Sunday in the suburbs of Mpls.
