Adventures Paddling Expensive kayak

Expensive kayak

This is me in a kayak currently valued at over 50k (yes USD!). Even with amortized cost spread over the next several boats it is probably still worth that. Delicate inlays, high quality strip construction and lots of passion. An amazing boat and a privilege to paddle.

This is on the Holmes Lake of my past. It is an Army Corps flood control lake in Lincoln Nebraska surrounded by a city park. In the 70’s there was a marina concession with sailboats, canoes and paddleboats 🙁   My 11th grade social studies teacher, Mr Barrett, made us write a job application for our dream job. On a whim, I actually sent it in and within 6 weeks I got it – messing around on boats checking out the bikini babes while someone paid me.  Life was good and I was hooked on small boats forever.

  1. It *is* a beautiful boat and glides so nicely over the water.

The paddling clinic in Iowa was a blast, and even though it was mostly review–we really enjoyed ourselves. Great workout, nice sunburns, awesome night’s sleep.

It was great to have you here, bro. We are *so* enjoying the gift of meat!
