Coho 24

Finally re-starting this thread of the blog. Travel and other issues interrupted the build. Now that it is cold, dark, rainy and windy it is paddling season so I am inspired. To review, the only steps that are left are:

  1. Complete the hatches and all the deck rigging
  2. Finish the boat to make it look even more beautiful. This means sand/ varnish/ sand/ sand/ varnish/ sand/ sand/ varnish/ sand/ sand/ varnish/ sand/ sand/ varnish/ sand/ sand/ clean / paddle

This post is about #1.

I was so inspired with my success making carbon tubes for the ends that I decided to make my own carbon cinch points for the hatches. Here is the concept: 5/8″ dowel with a layer of CF with overhead projector plastic cinched down over the top (dating myself, this is pre-PowerPoint technology kids) – remember, I only need the top half. This was my trial run.

For #2 I am considering Interlux Perfection Plus (2-part) Varnish. Comments welcome. Looks like a lot of hours work though.
