Unusual for this project – unexpected progress and success.
Progress: I reserved many hours for today (Labor Day holiday) but accomplished my base goal 5 hours ahead of time. I know how to squeegee efficiently! Useful skill.
Success: [technical] – for the hand carry mounts at the ends it is suggested you fill the ends with wood-thickened epoxy and then drill a hole through the boat. Pahh! I decided to try a different approach. First I made some carbon tubes (the photo is of the 3rd try, and in retrospect I should have just gone to a garage sale and bought a broken graphite golf club and used the shaft for the same purpose, but my idea did work-I also made some tube in kevlar), then I drilled some holes in the boat and epoxied the shaft in. It is extremely light.
- Filling the ends (BTW, the boat very briefly caught on fire during this stage)
- Final hull work (interior)
- Carbon fiber tubes
- Tube installed
Tomorrow is the big day, the deck will get bonded to the hull!
